Runescape Economy

December 9th, 2007 by admin

Economy is really complex on Runescape. Runescape gives you varieties of ways to make money. You also learn things that link to real life from the game. It is easier to make money on P2P servers rather than F2p servers for many reasons. On P2P servers, you have a variety of skills and areas to help you. On F2P servers, you are short of some major skills, and armor. You can make money while raising your skills. Or you can make money the easy way. To become the best in Runescape you'll have to go through both ways. You'll learn all about it in this article.

Leveling Up
The first way is getting money from leveling up. People train all day and rely on their money by drops. Drops can range from items worth 1 gold to items worth millions of gold. That way is time consuming and is all based on luck. Drops such as dragon armor can turn you from a poor character to a rich one. Fighting in the Barrows can make you strong and rich. Barrows armor is worth a lot of gold, and can help you defeat your enemies that come along your path. A helpful skill for this way of becoming rich would be the Slayer skill. The higher your slayer, the more of a chance you have of getting rare weapons and armor. At 65 slayer you can fight Dust Devils. Dust Devils have a chance of dropping a Dragon chain when you die. Dragon chains usually go for 10-12m. You would get the benefits of leveling up and getting stronger, but would not have the benefits of making quick and easy money.

Alchemy
A helpful skill in making money on runescape is magic. Alchemy is a great tool for money making. I've personally made over 30m gold by alchemy. Some skills that you will need or that will improve are crafting, magic, woodcutting, runecrafting, and fletching. What you do is get your woodcutting to 75 and start chopping at magic trees. Magic tree spots are hard to find with no people, but a real decent spot is southwest of Lletya. There isn't many people there due to the poisonous traps and monsters in the area. It is a great spot for people over level 60. You get the magic logs and you fletch them into magic long bows. The next part gets boring, but is a necessity. You pick flax from an area such as the seers village. You string the flax in the same village. Now, you string the longbows. You will need a fire staff and nature runes for the next part. If you make your own runes then you will make 1.5m, but if you buy the nature runes then you will make a lot less gold. If you choose this way, then you will raise a lot of skills, and make a lot of money at the same time. It is very time consuming, but worth it at the end.

Fishing and Cooking
A good skill to work on in Runescape is fishing. Fishing is a great and easy way to make money. You should fish from fishing level 1-40 and use the fish you get for later use. You can cook those fish later on and use it for food when training. Once you hit level 40 fishing, then you should fish for lobsters. Lobsters sell for a lot of gold on F2P servers because it is the best level of fish that recovers hp fast. People buy lobsters to go pvp or just to train, so you are guaranteed a sell. Once you hit level 76 fishing, then you can fish for sharks at the fishing guild of Catherby. Fishing for sharks can be a win lose situation. Cooking sharks can either make you happy or make you punch a hole in your wall. Until you hit 99 cooking, the outcome of cooking sharks will most likely be 3 to 1 being burnt. Sharks are a good way to make money nonetheless because most players buy sharks uncooked to level their cooking.

Runecrafting
Runecrafting is a great skill to use for your advantage in Runescape. Runecrafting needs patience and cooperation. Mining the rune essence is the easiest way to get started. Once you have the rune essence go to an alter and make the runes. The air alter is the easiest to level up. Make your way up to level 44 runecrafting. Then you should start making nature runes. Nature runes sell for a decent amount of gold due to the want for alchemy. You can make a decent amount of money from this but it will be a back breaking task.

Mining and Smithing
The slowest way to make money is mining ores and smelting. All you need is a pickaxe, and time. You can mine everywhere and anywhere. Selling steel bars is a great way to make money. Selling coal ores is a lot faster, and a little less time consuming. The outcome will most likely come out the same.
I hope these tips will help you become a successful runescape player. And again, there are many ways of making money on Runescape with all the varieties of skills, and items. The ways I have talked about in this article are ways of making money while furthering your skills on Runescape.

economy is really an overstatement…. its basically just a buy items used to train with or fight with. or sell things you don’t need.

I don’t agree with the fishing lobs at 40 fishing. Unless you NEED the money you can save alot of time fishing trout/salmon until level 50 fisihng. At level 50, you catch lobs at just about the right rate to keep up with exp gains from trout/salmon. If you go the trout/salmon way you also get more cooking experience, if you choose. Most people don’t, to save time.
